About Us
What Makes Hawthorn Physiotherapy Unique?
1. A Personalised Approach
Our physiotherapist will cater to your specific needs and help you achieve your vital goals. Whether it’s returning to sport or living pain-free – your priorities are our priorities. Hawthorn Physiotherapy encourages all our physios to develop a robust problem-solving mentality and not fall into the trap of cookie-cutter approaches.
Everyone is different, which means the approach and management of our clients should reflect this. For example, if we treat 100 knee reconstructions, then we’d expect 100 different recovery programs to reflect the individuality of each person’s expectations. You can trust that we will be respectful and attentive to all of your needs.
2. Staff experience
Between our eight physiotherapists, we have over 110 years of physio experience. Whether working with Hawthorn Football Club from 1990-2004, to treating royalties in London, to our relationship with St Vincent’s Private hospital, our extensive expertise carries through to the care we deliver to you. As a close-knit team, we always share our experiences and knowledge. Additionally, we ensure that our principal physiotherapists always support the team and our clients.
3. Our Storied History
As one of the oldest clinics in Victoria, we have been serving the community for almost 50 years since opening in 1974. The longevity of our clinic speaks to the high-quality care that we uphold for every single one of our patients. As a result, Hawthorn Physiotherapy Clinic has developed an excellent reputation within the community – seeing over 350 patients on an average weekly basis.
4. Our Relationship with St. Vincent’s Hospital Kew
We have been associated with St Vincent’s Hospital Kew (formally Vimy House Private Hospital) for over 35 years. For this reason, we have developed extraordinary relationships with some of Melbourne’s leading orthopaedic specialists and surgeons. We are always up-to-date with the most modern approaches to medicine, injury management, pain prevention, and pre-surgical & post-surgical management through our collaborations. Our physios are specialised experts in pre and post operative care of hip and knee joint replacements, ACL procedures, arthroscopes and many other orthopaedic injuries / surgeries. They are directly trained by surgeons through ongoing professional development and on the job engagement. As a result you can be sure you’re in good hands with our physiotherapists and their vast knowledge in both a clinic and hospital setting.
5. A Strong Referral Network
At Hawthorn Physiotherapy, we realise that some problems require more than physiotherapy. Strong referral networks to surgeons, sports physicians, and medical imaging can be vital for a proper management strategy.
After developing these relationships for years, we are constantly in touch with extended healthcare professionals, such as orthopaedic surgeons. We know these surgeons so well that we can call them directly if any issues arrive in many cases. This type of partisan relationship is unique for a clinic.
6. A Modern Approach
Our physiotherapists at Hawthorn pride ourselves on keeping up-to-date on the latest physiotherapy research – including the best rehabilitation approaches and pain management strategies. We appreciate the complexity of the human body and mind to ensure that we provide the most current management plans.
7. We love what we do
Hawthorn Physiotherapy prides itself in creating a fun but professional vibe in the clinic. Whilst we are working in an engaging environment, we stay disciplined because we know that rehabilitation and recovery can be challenging at times.
8. Bupa Members First Provider
As a long-standing Bupa Members First Provider, all our patients who have extras cover with Bupa Health Insurance get special rates and discounts to see our physiotherapists.
